I had an accident over 25 years ago. I fell off an eighty plus foot cliff- Among many other fractures, including a basil skull fracture on the same side as my damaged ear, I fractured the bones in my middle ear ( I think it was the middle). It was discovered while I was hospitalized that I had suffered hearing loss and tinnitis from the impact of the fall. A few years later I had experimental surgery to re-build the three little bones ( you can tell how informed I am here).

I was so young I didn't pay much attention to anything other than when I'd get to go home from the hospital and back to school and toss the walker I had to use for months from a broken hip. Now, years later, the tinnitis is much louder. It's a more rushing sound with occasional tones that ring.

I've been told I'm not a candidate for a hearing aid not that this would help with the tinnitus but if my hearing improved, perhaps the sounds I could possibly hear would camouflage the tinnitis. This is all speculation at this point.

I've heard that surgery is an option but comes with a significant risk factor. I'd much rather choose an alternative treatment but have yet to learn of anything that might help. This is what I'm researching. Alternative treatment.
