Hyperacusis: The tinnitus, louder mostly at night or in deep silence. high pitched. increased sensitivity to sudden or high pitched sounds like keys, car brake hissing. I ride a motorcycle, even though I wear ear plugs and a full face helmet the tinnitus and sensitivity seems to get worse after every ride. I can't say if its from bone conduction of vibration or muscle tensions in the neck when riding, or increased pressure in the ear because of the earplugs.
Hello Gaetan, It does seem to me that you have suffered cochlear damage in the past, either as a result of the continued noise when riding or from exposure to noise in some other incident. The fact that you are becoming sensitive to loud noises is also a clear indicator of cochlear damage. This is a chronic condition and one that you must take care not to aggravate. Keep on wearing those ear plugs and make sure to avoid sudden loud noises wherever possible. Gaetan, we can help you to a large extent and I have explained more in the link below.
