The symptoms of dizziness and ringing in the ears that you have described are typical of a condition known as Meniere's Disease. Vertigo, dizziness, tinnitus and nausea are all symptoms of Meniere's Disease.
If you no longer are experiencing the dizziness this is good, but if you are still experiencing bouts of vertigo then you should consider a low salt diet as discussed in the link below which also has a host of additional information about the debilitating effects of Meniere's Disease.
