Client asked:
Meniere's Disease: I had an attack of vertigo, I didn't know at the time that was what
it was, but my husband took me to the urgent care and they said it was
vertigo. Before the attack I had several times when my left ear was plugged
and I couldn't hear but not much ringing. After this major attack the
tinnitus developed, I have had ringing in my ears quite often. I do have
high cholesterol.
Our Response
Hello Vicky,
The dizziness and vertigo symptoms you have described are typical of Meniere's Disease. I do not believe the high cholesterol is related to your tinnitus in any way.
When suffering a Meniere's Disease attack one typically suffers from a feeling of pressure or fullness in the ears, dizziness and extreme vertigo. The room seems to spin out of control and you will often feel nauseas and exhausted after an attack. The ringing in the ears or tinnitus, is experienced on a regular basis and is caused from cochlea damage that occurs during the attacks of Menieres Disease.
