Meniere's Disease: I'm not sure what category applies to
my tinnitus case. I was diagnosed w/ Minieres after my first pregnancy
in 98. I had one major spell of dizziness/vomitting, lasting about
4 hours. I experienced ear ringing & fullness in rt ear after birth of second child.
I was told by ENT I had permanent nerve damage in rt ear. Two weeks later I felt substantial fluid drainage out of ear and didn't have problem again until third pregnancy. Now nine months after delivery, still nursing, and have mild to severe fullness, ear ringing, and humming. (After 2nd pregnancy, ear appeared to be normal about 4-5 mos after delivery and nursing.) I was also diagnosed with Herpes in 89 and take antiviral medications as needed.
Stress certainly is a major component as well. In addition, I have had sinus problems all of my life, with allergy issues developing with age. So, what do you think? Minieres, stress, sinus, nerve damage, or viral??? Thanks for your help!

Hello Tish,
It is certain that you have Miniere's Disease and that this is the cause of your tinnitus. What happens when one has Miniere's Disease is that you have these attacks that cause the vertigo, dizziness and vomiting. What also happens in these attacks is that you get cochlear damage which is what causes the tinnitus and ear ringing.
Whilst one can control the vertigo to a certain degree with the correct diet, the cochlear damage that is causing the tinnitus needs to be treated. If this is not treated the tinnitus just seems to carry on getting worse as time goes by.
The fullness of the ear will also be reduced by following a low sodium diet.
