Malcolm this about tinnitus:
Can ringing in ear tinnitus be caused by working in a noisy environment? I worked for the British Steel Corporation for twelve years and was subject to noise on a daily basis.
Our response to Malcolm's question:
Hello Malcolm,
Tinnitus can indeed be caused from working in a noisy environment. Indeed noise is the major cause of inner ear cochlear damage which leads to tinnitus and high frequency hearing loss.
Tinnitis and hearing loss are symptoms of cochlea damage. This damage to your sensitive inner ear organs occurs when you have been exposed to loud noise as you have and can also happen as a result of inner ear infections and a blow to the head.
I bet you didn't realize that there are millions of minuscule nerve endings deep inside the ear that get influenced by the pressure of waves of sound resulting from noise.
As a sound is recognized by your ears and the minute hairs undulate, electric signals go streaking through the nerve that your brain picks up and tells you you've just heard a sound.
When stimulation results in moving of your wee nerve cells, which reminds one to a wheat field on a farm rustling in concert with a breeze.
All of those tiny hair cells and these micro nerves break very easily when you expose yourself to loud noise. The auditory nerve damage is all the more worse if you have played in a orchestra or a rock band for a long time.
The hair cells and nerves are damaged and bent from a bad blow on to the head. The auditory hairs can get bent or even chipped and then randomly send electric impulses straight to the brain which is interpreted as a sound, though there is none.
Noise related cochlear damage tinnitis leading to hearing loss and tinnitus can also be caused from ear wax treatments gone wrong, hopi ear candling, swimming pool accidents, sports injuries, head surgery and can also be caused by ear infections.
Loss of hearing is irreparable although our tinnitus remedies have been very successful at dramatically lowering the levels of tinnitus from cochlea damage. There are millions of tiny hairs situated in the inner ear that move when you hear an external sound.
When a noise is heard by the ears and these minute hairs move, impulses go streaking through the auditory nerve which your brain interprets as a sound.
The agitation of the hairs in the cochlea can be likened to a field of grass rippling in time with the breeze.
These minute hair cells and those infinitesimal auditory nerves get damaged easily when subjected to loud noises. The inner ear damage is made worse if you are a habitual concert goer or worked in a loud environment for a long time.
These sensitive organs can also be damaged from a knock on the head. The tiny hairs often get bent out of shape or broken and then randomly send electric pulses directly to the brain which interprets them as a noise, although there is no sound present.
Tinnitus from noise (cochlea damage tinnitus) is also caused by scuba diving accidents, swimming incidents, removals of ear wax etc.
Hearing loss is not reversible but our noise tinnitus remedies have successfully reduced the tinnitus levels of many thousands of tinnitus sufferers.
