Hello Diane,
It may be that the lopressor could have acted as a "trigger" that set your tinnitus off. I do not believe that to be the main cause of your tinnitus as you also have hearing loss, which is associated with cochlear damage.
This cochear damage could very well be caused from the bad ear infection you had suffered earlier and the tinnitus and hearing loss is most likely to be as a result of this cochlear damage.
It is not normal for ear infection to cause pus to actually run out of the ears so it was obviously a chronic infection that caused a remarkable amount of damage!
A little known fact is that there are literally hundreds of millions of microscopic hairs within the cochlea that get influenced by the great pressures of sound waves.
When a sound picked up by the ears and the auditory hairs undulate, electrical impulses are sent via the nerves that your brain picks up and tells you you've just heard a sound.
