I got tinnitus when i was 16 or 17, i am now 31. as a child i had very often ear pain (otitis media) and took all kind of medicines to get rid of it.

I would certainly agree with you that the most probable cause of your tinnitus is cochlear damage that was caused from the otitis media you experienced as a child.
This cochlea damage was probably aggravated by the exposure to loud noises from practising in a small studio and also by the stress and depression you mention.
I bet you didn't realize that there are millions of microscopic nerve endings within the inner ear that are stimulated by pressure of sound waves caused by external noise.
When noises gets discerned by the ears and these auditory hairs wave around, electric signals are sent via the nerves which your brain figures out to be a noise.
Stimulation precedes moving of your petite hairs, which reminds one a field of wheat on a farm shifting in concert with a breeze.
All of those petite hairs and the diminutive nerve cells are easy to break when you are exposed sudden to loud noise. The cochlear damage is all the more amplified if you have played in a band or worked in a loud environment over an extended period of time.
