In fact I believe you have correctly identified the cause of your ear ringing. Ear candling can cause cochlea damage if not done correctly and if cochlea damage is already present prior to the ear candling, it can trigger the ear ringing, tinnitus and hearing loss.A little known fact is that there are literally millions of diminutive hairs in the inner ear that are moved by the great pressures of sound waves caused by external noise.

Whenever an external sound is picked up the minute hairs sway and send impulses via the auditory nerve which is interpreted as a sound by your brain.

The movements of the hairs in the cochlea can be likened to a field of grass rippling in time with the breeze.

These microscopic hair cells and those delicate auditory nerves are easy to break when subjected to sudden loud noises. Obviously those that are unfortunate enough to work in a very loud environment or frequent noisy places over a period of time will experience further damage.

The cochlea and its delicate structures are also damaged by a severe blow to the head Our cilia often get bent out of shape or even broken and then randomly send electric pulses directly to the brain which interprets them as a noise, although there is no sound present.

Tinnitus from noise (cochlea damage tinnitus) is also caused by scuba diving accidents, swimming incidents, ear wax removals etc.

Damage to hearing is not reversible nevertheless the tinnitus treatments have been very successful at dramatically and permanently lowering the tinnitus levels from a damaged cohlea.
