Tinnitus began after physician irrigated my ears.

The tinnitus began after physician irrigated my ears. I distinctly remember noticing the high-pitched chirring sound after leaving the office. This happened about a month ago. I can't tell if the tinnitus has gotten worse and at this point it's not debilitating. The tinnitus is mostly annoying....and I'm hoping that this ear ringing doesn't get worse.

Hello Jeff,

The most annoying thing for you must be the fact that the tinnitus started after a visit to your doctor! This is actually very common and in fact most doctors leave the procedure for their assistants to do, which makes this even worse.

Fortunately we have a very good success rate with this type of tinnitus. What has happened is that the cochlea has been damaged and the tinnitus is a result of this damage.A little known fact is that there are thousands of small hairs in the cochlea that are moved by sound waves as a result of external sound.

When a sound gets discerned by the ears and these small hairs move, signals are sent through the nerve which your brain interprets as sound.

Agition then result in a movement of all those minute hair nerve cell, very similar to a field of wheat on a farm shifting in time with the wind.

The cilia in the cochlea are easily damaged from the pressures generated by sudden bursts of sounds. Obviously those that are unfortunate enough to work in a very loud environment or visit very loud places over a period of time will experience further damage.

These delicate organs can also be damaged from a knock on the head. The tiny hairs often get bent out of shape or broken and then randomly send impulses directly to the brain which interprets them as a sound, although there is no sound present.

Noise induced cochlear damage tinnitus which can cause a ringing in the ears often is a result of ear wax removals,ear candling,swimming accidents,sports injuries,dental surgery.
