My tinnitus is a high pitch ringing especially when stressed, tired or my stomach is acidic.. The tinnitus seems lessend upon waking and when i am calm...i used a meditation tape for walking which is supposed to balance the right and left hemispheres of the brain ...could this have an effect?

Hello Maria,
Did you know that there are literally millions of small hairs in the inner ear that are affected by the great pressures of sound waves as a result of external noise.
When a noise is heard by the ears and these minute hairs start moving, impulses go streaking through the auditory nerve which your brain interprets as noise.
The agitation of the hairs in the inner ear can be likened to a field of grass moving in time with the breeze.
These minute hair cells and those tiny auditory nerves get damaged easily when exposed to sudden loud noises. The inner ear damage is all the more amplified if you have played in a band or worked in a loud environment for a long time.
The inner ear and its delicate structures are also easily damaged by a strong blow to the head Our cilia often get bent out of shape or broken and then randomly send impulses directly to the brain which interprets them as a noise, although there is no sound present.
Any type of surgery to the head can also cause tinnitus from cochlea damage.
Hearing loss is most certainly not reversible however the tinnitus treatments have been very successful at dramatically and permanentlylowering the tinnitus levels from a damaged cohlea.
It is sometimes difficult to pinpoint the cause of your tinnitus but it does seem to me that you are most likely suffering from the most common form of tinnitus, namely cochlear damage tinnitus. I am basing my advice on the actual tinnitus noises you have described, (a high pitched ringing noise) and the fact that your tinnitus increases in intensity when you are stressed.
