When I'm tensed and tired I hear the tinnitus more clearly...!
Eerikäinen Asked:
I have also noticed that when I'm tensed and tired I hear the tinnitus more clearly. But mainly I think that it is because of loud noise. I used to play trumpet in different orchestras before I started to sing. And I remember one concert where I was sitting next to symbals and that noise was terrible, after that I have had tinnitus... I guess. Sometimes when I sing it irritates my left ear.
Our Response:
Hello Eerikäinen,
The loud noises you are exposed to when playing in the orchestra, as well as when you are singing are almost certainly the cause of your tinnitus. The long, continual exposure over many years also causes gradual damage.
Sudden loud noises such as the crash of symbals will also severely damage the deleicate inner ear structures such as the cochlea.an external noise is experienced the many thousands of little hairs in the inner ear are stimulated.
When a noise is heard by the ears and these small hairs start moving, impulses go streaking through the nerve which your brain interprets as noise.
Agition then cause a movement of all those minute hair nerve cell, much like a field of wheat on a farm swaying in tune with the wind.
The cilia in the cochlea are easily broken from the huge pressures generated by sudden bursts of sounds. The inner ear damage is all the more amplified if you are a habitual concert goer or have worked in a loud environment for a long time.
These delicate organs can also be damaged from a knock on the head. Our cilia often get bent out of shape or even broken and then randomly transmit electric pulses directly to the brain which interprets them as a noise, although there is no sound present.
Tinnitus from noise (cochlea damage tinnitus) is also often a result of scuba diving accidents, swimming pool incidents, removals of ear wax etc.
Hearing loss is most certainly not reversible however the tinnitis treatments have been very successful at lowering the tinnitus levels from a damaged cohlea.
