The loud noise from two fans caused my tinnitus...

My tinnitus started about 2 years ago, on a hot July night. I was sleeping, with two fans on in the bedroom, so it was relatively loud.

I woke up in the middle of the night with this high pitched tone, I thought it was the fans, so I turned them off, but the tone did not go away, and I have had tinnitus ever since. I notice that when I chew something chewy (such as pizza crust), the tinnitus noises get louder as I am biting down on the food, and then goes back to the normal level when I release, if that means anything.

I have MANY "silver" fillings in my teeth, and at the time of the first tinnitus symptoms, I had an absessed tooth, that soon after I had a root canal on. Since then, I have had two additional root canals.

Also, approximately 6 years ago, I was in an auto accident in which the air bags deployed, but I had no tinnitus symptoms until two years ago.

I have had audiometric testing, and I have lost a little of my hearing in the high registers. I also had a CT scan of my head, and they found nothing (well, a little brain matter maybe!).

I would certainly appreciate any help you can give me in eliminating this tinnitus! I'm not in a position to pay for medication that will not help me, so I'm hoping this can be diagnosed as best as possible, to get me the help I need.

When one is exposed to very loud noises such as playing the drums without protection it is very easy to cause cochlea damage. This in turn leads to high frequency hearing loss and and tinnitus.
