Client Asked:
Tinnitus from an ear infection and lost hearing in one ear. The doctor saw lots of wax on the ear drum, and said it will clear in time. Had the wax washed out, but still deaf in that ear. Went to a specialist who said "Bad luck, irreversible, but you can have an MRI scan to check." I did and results same. Ringing in the ear really bad since then.
Our Response:
Hello Tony,
Obviously the ear infection caused damage to your cochlea and this is what lead to the hearing loss and tinnitus. Removal of ear wax if not done carefully will also add to the cochle damage. The hearing loss is irreversible but we can help with the tinnitus you are experiencing.Did you know that there are literally millions of diminutive hairs in the inner ear that are moved by the great pressures of sound waves caused by external sound.
As and when an external noise is picked up the minute hairs sway and send signals through the auditory nerve which is interpreted as a noise by your brain.
These small hair cells and those infinitesimal auditory nerves get damaged easily when subjected to loud noises. The damage is made worse if you are a band member or worked in a loud environment for a long time.
Noise induced cochlear damage tinnitus which can cause a ringing in the ears often is by ear wax removals, a procedure known as ear candling, swimming accidents, sports injuries, head or dental surgery.
Hearing loss is most certainly not reversible nevertheless the tinnitis remedies have been very successful at dramatically and permanently lowering the tinnitus levels from a damaged cohlea.
The ringing in the ears from cochlea damage is the one tinnitus type we have excellent successes with so you have every reason to be optimistic of at least reducing that ringing in the ears.
