Do very loud noises always cause tinnitus?
Client Asked:
I have been around loud noises for a long time and have tinnitus
Our Response:
Hello Ashok,
The sad fact of the matter is that millions of people all around the world are being exposed to loud noises every day and tinnitus is increasingly being experienced by younger and younger people as a result.
I have included very detailed info on how cochlear damage occurs from being exposed to loud noises, how you can prevent further damage and how we can help you. When an external sound is experienced the many thousands of little hairs in the inner ear are stimulated.
When a sound gets discerned by the ears and these small hairs move, impulses go streaking through the nerve which your brain interprets as a noise.
The movements of the hairs in the cochlea can be likened to a field of long grass moving in tune with the breeze.
These microscopic hair cells and those infinitesimal auditory nerves are easy to break when exposed to loud noises. Obviously those that are unfortunate enough to work in a very loud environment or frequent very loud pubs over a period of time will experience more damage.
Any type of surgery to the head can also result in hearing loss.
Damage to hearing is incurable however the tinnitis treatments have been very successful at reducing the tinnitus levels from a damaged cohlea.
