From your description of the tinnitus noises and symptoms you are

experiencing that the tinnitus is being caused from cochlear damage. You did mention that you had a rather nasty blow to the head and it was after this incident that the tinnitus started.

We do have a lot of success in treating this tinnitus type and you have every reason to look forward to getting rid of those noises in the ear.There are thousands of small hairs situated in the cochlea that move when you perceive an external sound.

When a noise is heard by the ears and these minute hairs start moving, impulses are sent through the auditory nerve which your brain interprets as noise.

Agition then result in a stirring of all those minute hair nerve cells, much like a field of wheat on a farm moving in time with the wind.

These little hair cells and those easily damaged auditory nerves get damaged easily when exposed to sudden loud noises. The damage is all the more amplified if you are a band member or worked in a loud environment for a long time.

These sensitive organs can also be damaged from a knock on the head. The tiny hairs often get bent out of shape or even broken and then randomly produce impulses directly to the brain which interprets them as a sound, although there is no sound present.
