Cochlea damage tinnitus from noise...
Client Asked:
I have tinnitus from noise
Our Response:
Hello David,
Noise pollution is becoming a greater factor in our daily lives. When an external noise is heard the thousands of little hairs in the cochlea are stimulated.
When a noise is heard by the ears and these minute hairs start moving, signals go streaking through the auditory nerve which your brain interprets as a sound.
The agitation of the hairs in the inner ear can be likened to a field of long grass rippling in time with the wind.
These small hair cells and those tiny auditory nerves are easy to break when subjected to loud noises. The inner ear damage is all the more amplified if you are a band member or have worked in a loud environment for a long time.
These sensitive organs can also be damaged from a knock on the head. If damage happens and the cilia are broken or bent they can send random signals to the brain which are interpreted as a sound even though none is present.
Noise induced cochlear damage tinnitus which can cause a ringing in the ears often is caused ear wax removals, ear candling, swimming incidents, hurting yourself playing sports, dental surgery.
Damage to hearing is incurable nevertheless the tinnitis treatments have been very successful at lowering the tinnitus levels from a damaged cohlea.
