Client Asked:
The tinnitus I hear is a constant high pitched tone. Some days it is very faint, but others it can be quite loud. I am diabetic have high triglycerides. I take tricor, glucophage, glipizide and pravachol. Two years ago I went scuba diving and had a little bleeding from my ears, but my sypmptoms begin just a few months ago.
Our Response:
Hello Jim,
I am glad to hear from you and feel pretty certain that we can help you choose the correct tinnitus relief remedy. This is obviously important as one cannot expect lasting effective relief from tinnitus, without taking the correct tinnitus medication.
Jim, it is actually quite scary how sensitive and delicate the ears and inner ear structures are and just how easily damage can occur. When an external noise is heard the thousands of tiny hairs in the cochlea are stimulated.
When a sound gets discerned by the ears and these small hairs start moving, impulses go streaking through the nerve which your brain interprets as a noise.
These microscopic hair cells and those tiny auditory nerves get damaged easily when subjected to loud noises. The inner ear damage is made worse if you have played in a band or have worked in a noisy factory for a long time.
The cochlea and its delicate structures are also easily damaged by a severe blow to the head The tiny hairs often get bent out of shape or broken and then randomly produce electric pulses directly to the brain which interprets them as a sound, although there is no sound present.
Noise related cochlear damage tinnitus which can cause a ringing in the ears often is caused ear wax removals, a procedure known as ear candling, swimming accidents, hurting yourself playing sports, dental surgery.
Damage to hearing is most certainly incurable however the ringing in the ears treatments have been very successful at reducing the tinnitus levels from a damaged cohlea.
It seems very likely to me that the incident you had when scuba diving, the bleeding of the ear, confirms that you have what is referred to as cochlear damage induced tinnitus. Even although your tinnitus only started at a much later stage, I am certain that this scuba diving incident caused cochlear damage, often the tinnitus doesn't start up until a much later time. I really don't think that medicinal drugs caused your tinnitus.
The good news is that we have helped many tinnitus sufferers from all over the world, achieve lasting tinnitus relief.
