My mother had it. The doctor did sinus surgery about two years ago. I've just delevoped the tinnitus at about Mar, 2004.
The doctor put me on papaverine which did not help. He just switched me to another medication which hasn't has time to work as yet.

The fact that you had Sinus surgery, leads me to believe that you had ongoing problems with Sinus and the Eustachian tubes.
I don't know if you have taken many anti-histamines or decongestants over the years but these only tend to compound one's problem.There are millions of small hairs situated in the cochlea that move when you hear an external sound.
When a sound gets discerned by the ears and these small hairs move,impulses are sent through the auditory nerve which your brain interprets as a sound.
Agition then cause a stirring of all those little hair nerve cell, much like a field of wheat on a farm swaying in tune with the wind.
The cilia in the cochlea are easily damaged from the huge pressures generated by extreme blasts of sounds. The damage is made worse if you are a habitual concert goer or have worked in a loud environment for a long time.
