Client Asked:
Tinnitus: My tinnitus details are: in my left ear the sound is worst - the only way I can describe the tinnitus noise is like an untuned radio in that it is buzzing.
I had gromits inserted in both ears with the right ear still
retaining the gromit nearly five years later. My consultant discharged me from the ENT clinic after regular attendances saying that my left ear would eventually loose hearing but as my right ear still had the gromit
intact I would be alright as I only need one ear to hear!
Everytime I take an ear infection my hearing is dulled. When I speak I can barely hear my own voice - I can feel the vibrations. That's when I speak too quietly to people as I do not want to shout.
I am 37 years old, have three children and I have had my tinnitus for 10 years. Each time I have an infection the noise gets a little louder. I get increasingly panicked
by this as I feel quite unable to do anything about it as the tinnitus is buried deep within my head. I now find it extremely hard to sleep at night and feel quite scared about what the future holds. I would be grateful for any advice on the subject.
Thank you in advace.
Our Response:
Dear Catherine,
I am delighted to hear from as I feel pretty confident that our tinnitus relief remedies can be of immense benefit to you.
It is very important in order to achieve effective lasting tinnitus relief that the correct tinnitus medication is taken.
There is no doubt that the main cause of your tinnitus is as a result of cochlea damage due to the constant ear infections. The noise you describe which sounds like an untuned radio also confirms this. The loss of hearing in the higher frequencies is common to cochlea damage induced tinnitus. There are millions of tiny hairs situated in the inner ear that move when you perceive an external sound.
Whenever an external noise is detected the tiny hairs move and send impulses through the auditory nerve which is interpreted as a sound by your brain.
Agition then cause a stirring of all those little hair nerve cell, much like a field of wheat on a farm shifting in tune with the wind.
The cilia in the inner ear are easily broken from the huge pressures generated by sudden bursts of sounds. The damage is made worse if you have played in a band or worked in a noisy factory for a long time.
