Exposed to loud noise that followed with tinnitus...
Client asked:
I was exposed to loud noise that followed with tinnitus one ear first & then the other. Doctor diagnosis auditory nerve damage.
Our Response:
Hello Jacob,
The tinnitus that one experiences when you have been exposed to loud noises is known as Type 4 tinnitus. Tinnitus and high frequency hearing loss normally occurs when the cochlea in the inner ear has been damaged due to the exposure to noise.
Auditory nerve damage is normally as a result of some physical trauma, such as the severing of the nerve due to an accident.
It is not normal to get auditory nerve damage due to exposure to noise. Tinnitus from exposure to noise is the most common form of tinnitus and one with which we have the most success. There are thousands of little hairs housed in the cochlea that get affected when you hear noise.
When a noise is heard by the ears and these small hairs start moving, impulses go streaking through the auditory nerve which your brain interprets as noise.
These small hair cells and those infinitesimal auditory nerves get damaged easily when exposed to sudden loud noises. Obviously those that are unfortunate enough to work in a very loud environment or frequent very loud pubs over a period of time will suffer more damage.
These delicate organs can also be damaged from a knock on the head. The tiny hairs often get bent out of shape or even broken and then randomly transmit impulses directly to the brain which interprets them as a sound, although there is no sound present.
Any type of surgery to the head can also cause hearing loss.
Hearing loss is not reversible however the tinnitis remedies have been very successful at reducing the tinnitus levels from a damaged cohlea.
