It has not been scientifically proven that tinnitus is hereditary, however in our experience we have come accross many familes where several of the family members suffer with tinnitus.

It is also very common for tinnitus to be aggravated by stress. You are more than likely suffering from cochlea damage induced tinnitus.

Fortunately we have an excellent success rate in the treatment of this particular type of tinnitus, which we refer to as type 4.A little known fact is that there are literally millions of small hairs in the inner ear that are influenced by sound waves caused by external sound.

When a noise is heard by the ears and these small hairs start moving, impulses go streaking through the auditory nerve which your brain interprets as a sound.

The hairs in the inner ear are easily broken from the pressures generated by extreme blasts of sounds. Obviously those that are unfortunate enough to work in a very loud environment or frequent very loud pubs over a period of time will experience further damage.

The inner ear and its delicate structures are also damaged by a strong blow to the head If damage occurs and the cilia are broken or bent they can send random signals to the brain which are interpreted as noise even though none is present.

Noise induced cochlear damage tinnitus which can cause a ringing in the ears often is caused ear wax removals, ear candling, swimming accidents, hurting yourself playing sports, dental surgery.
