Client Asked:
The cause of my tinnitus is when I fell and hit my head on the left side just behind the ear in Aug. of 2003
Our Response:
Hello Cheryl,
It is certain that when you fell and hit your head, this caused damage which has resulted in the tinnitus. This is a very common cause of tinnitus. We can help you get relief from your tinnitus as we have achieved excellent results with the treatment of this particular type of tinnitus, which we refer to as type 4.There are thousands of little hairs housed in the cochlea that move when you perceive an external sound.
As and when an external noise is detected the tiny hairs sway and send impulses via the auditory nerve which is interpreted as a sound by your brain.
The movements of the hairs in the cochlea can be likened to a field of grass rippling in tune with the breeze.
The cilia in the inner ear are easily damaged from the pressures generated by sudden bursts of sounds. The damage is made worse if you have played in a band or have worked in a loud environment for a long time.
Any type of surgery to the head can also cause tinnitus from cochlea damage.
Damage to hearing is most certainly not reversible nevertheless the tinnitus treatments have been very successful at dramatically and permanentlyreducing the tinnitus levels from a damaged cohlea.
