<% session("Wherebeen")="http://www.t-gone.com/tinnitus-faq/noise-T8-08.asp" %> In May I began to notice mild tinnitus.

Tinnitus:

I have been on 25 mg. of pamelor for the last three years. This past October my doctor raised it to 50 mg. due to stress I was going through. In May I began to notice mild tinnitus. Its getting worse now. Also, from November to May I was drinking 8 oz. of tonic water (contains quinine) a day for eye twitches. My eye doctor said that tonic water helped relieve that and it did. I stopped the quinine because I read somewhere that it can cause tinnitus. My question is, do you think the increase in the Pamelor may be causing the tinnitus? And would it have taken the 7 months to develop? It never bothered me at 25 mg. for the past three years. Also I take atenolol(blood pressure) for the past 2 years and this also never resulted in tinnitus. I've also read on the different web sites that they use pamelor to treat tinnitus. I'm really confused. My tinnitus sounds like that steady sound of crickets. High pitched. Constant. Sometimes I have this feeling of pressure in my ears. In regards to stress, I'm not very good at handling it although I don't have any major stress in my life like work stress, marital stress, kid stress. I have a good marriage and good kids and I love my job. My biggest stress right now is this tinnitus. I would appreciate any help you can give me. This is beginning to cause me a lot of anxiety.

Hello Patricia,

I do not believe the tiny amounts of quinine found in tonic water could cause or aggravate your tinnitus. Your tinnitus is far more likely to be caused from the pamelor or cochlear damage which is normally from exposure to noise or ear infection.

If your tinnitus increases when you are tired or stressed, this is an indication of cochlear damage tinnitus. The tinnitus noises you describe (steady sound of crickets) is also typical of cochlear damage tinnitus and it is more than likley that this is the main cause of your tinnitus.

Our Type 4 tinnitus treatment has excellent success in treating cochlea damage tinnitus and I would recommend that this is the tinnitus treament you should order.

It is possible Patricia that you could also be suffering from Type 8 tinnitus which is caused by drugs. I have explained this in more details in the links below.

Your best course of action in fact would be to take both of these remedies in conjunction with each other.
