CLIENT ASKED
Tinnitus: 10 years ago while recovering from a normal winter cold, I was awakened during the night by strange sounds, constant background plus clicking/poping/rushing. After wandering about the house and outside for a while, I realized it was coming from my head. The doctors diagnosed tinnitus resulting from scaring in my inner ear resulting from the cold and told me to get used to it. The tinnitus seems to continually get worse with time. Tinnitus is seriously affects my professional and personal life. I have had hayfever and allergies since I was 5. I am now 55 and have had enough.
Our Response:
Hello Robert,
Obviously that cold you had 10 years ago was more more than a normal winter cold. You must have also had a bad ear infection that caused damage to your cochlea. You have also obviously taken medication and anti-histamines for many years to treat the hayfever and allergies you mentioned.
The noises you have described are typical of two separate tinnitus types and it is likely that your tinnitus is being caused by two separate causes and I have explained this in the links below.
