My tinnitus details are as follows. Loud ringing in both ears, often accompanied by disorientation and balance problems. (Meniere's has been ruled out). Sometimes louder and sometimes "new" variants of the ringing come on for brief periods of time. Think it could be a combination of stress disposition, jaw clenching and perhaps? a bad reaction to smoking marihuana a few weeks before original onset some nineteen years ago. Tried a jaw guard and electrophoresis, both to no avail. Have always had trouble with ear infections. Had a major ear infection in both ears caused by contaminated swimming water and a bad bout of labyrinthitis some months earlier than original onset of tinnitus(which happened literally overnight). Most probable cause? Am really unsure about which of your treatments to opt for...HELP! And yes, I have a high anxiety profile and the tinniuts just makes it worse!!!

Thank you for an excellent description of your tinnitus noises and the history behind your tinnitus. When I get detail such as you have supplied it makes it so much easier for me to help you choose the correct tinnitus treatment remedy. Obvioulsy this is important because if you do not get the correct tinnitus medication, how can you get lasting tinnitus relief?
It is almost certain that the main cause of your tinnitus is cochlear damage. Tinnitus from cochlear damage is also accompanied by hearing loss in the higher frequencies.
The fact that you have had a lot of problems with ear infections also indicates cochlea damage.The part of the brain and interdependent conformations in the cerebrum, such as the Pons, the corpus callosum, the brain stem, the ventricular system can result in causing tinnitus.
The hypothalamus is a archaic part of the human brain located under the third ventricle. It guides lots of systems in the human body, such as the pituitary gland.
Ideally the optimum way to treat stress related head ringing is to remove or modify the conditions or situations that are responsible for the stress.
You also seem to be experiencing a great deal of stress and mention that you have feelings of anxiety which is heightened by the tinnitus. The opposite is also true. The stress and anxiety will most certainly worsen the tinnitus, and stress will often trigger the tinnitus.
