I was diagnosed with Meniere's about 32 years ago. All of the symptoms,ie pain, loss of hearing, loud ringing were in the right ear only. After a while, the pain went away and the ringing calmed down to an audible high-pitched ring that I've learned to live with all these years. About 9 months ago I started hearing a loud low-pitched hum (like a vibration)in my left ear. (I noticed that it would stop whenever I shook my head lightly. It stopped only while I was shaking my head but then resumed as soon as I stopped.) It lasted for about a week and has occured only once in a while since then. However, lately it is almost continuous. (My mother passed away 2 weeks ago. This non-stop humming started about 1 week ago.) As I said, the high-pitched ringing form of tinnitus is not my concern. It is the loud vibrating noise that sounds like a truck driving in the distance.

This would suggest that you are suffering with stress induced tinnitus as well as cochlear damage induced tinnitus.
