Tinnitus started when I awoke 2 days ago with horrible itching pain in my left ear. It felt like something was inside my ear. Now, 2 days later, I am still feeling some pain, but I have this terribly annoying crackling noise in both ears. It is like static, or bubbles popping way inside my ears.

There is no rhythm to them, just tiny popping, crackling sounds and the pain deep in my ears. Help!

Sorry to hear about those horrible crackling noises you are hearing! Tinnitus can be very distracting and annoying but help is at hand! Tinnitus of this type is normally as a result of the mucuous in the middle earbecomming too thick. This often happens to people who are sinus sufferers.It's very ordinary for individuals who have sinus problems to sometimes experience tinnitis symptoms. This is because the mucous builds up and eventually blocks the inner ear canal which causes pressure and causes the ear ringing symptoms. This additional build up of pressure can not only cause tinnitus but also some inner ear infections.

Tinnitus from sinus may also be caused by your body reacting to drugs, antibiotics or antihistamines. After long periods of consuming antibiotics or antihistamines to restrain the sinus problems tinnitis is often noticed. It is the antibiotics and antihistamines that cause the mucous in the inner ear to become too thick and viscous to easily drain out through the very tight Eustachian tubes.
