Shock and Trauma induced tinnitus due to Surgery...
Tinnitus from hypothyroidism...Stress related tinnitus...
Maureen asked:
I have had buzzing in left ear since Jan. of this year after having surgery to remove ovaries. The surgery turned out to be 5 hrs long, much longer than expected. My Dr. told me that depending on how I was intubated it could have contributed to the problem. I went to an ENT and was diagnosed with high frequency hearing loss. So my question is could the surgery really cause this or is that just a coincidence and it's really caused by the hearing loss?
Our Response:

I am truly sorry to hear that you were in surgery for such a long time and have no doubt that this has caused shock and trauma to your body and has resulted in the tinnitus. You would be amazed at the amount of people that develop tinnitus after major surgery. The hypothalamus and affiliated structures in the human cerebellum, like the Pons, the ventricular system do result in being the root cause of tinnitus.
Ideally the optimum way to relieve stress induced a ringing in the ears is to remove or control the problems that are causing the stress.
