Tinnitus: My tinnitus started on January 29th 2004. I had bad headaches and neck tension at the office. When I got home I noticed the sound in my head. These are stressful times as I have lost my job because of a company consolidation. I am not exposed to loud noises. In fact the office was very, very quiet. I was one the last six employees remaining at the office. The sound has been basically the same since January. I would say it is a high pitched whine or hiss. It is constant in frequency. I went to an ENT and they performed a hearing test. I do have a high frequency loss. It seems worst when I can't get enough sleep. I have been taking ambien from time to time. Maybe three tablets a month. When I'm well rested I am able to cope with the sound better. I am on a heart regimen as I had a minor heart problem 3 years ago. I also have read caffiene(coffee) may be involved. I do drink several cups of coffee a day.
