Tinnitus: My tinnitus started 3 years ago when I was travelling in a bus from one city to another. I think I had caught a cold and suddenly I heard a low whistling sound in my ear. Dr said it is due to infection in ear and it should subside with treatment with antibiotics and anti inflamattories. I took all medicines as per DR advice but noise persisted and became louder and used to rhyme with my heartbeats.
At times it is a roaring noise and at times a whistling one. I went to another DR who said to use antihistamines and to try to ignore the noise. I was not better and I change DR. He did hearing test which was normal. He told me to take NICOTINIC ACID in increasing doses to a maximum of 100 mg per day. I did feel better for a while and then again the noise came back. Went to another DR who advised to use
XANAX and DIPHENHYDRAMINE at night.
I feel noise is less but it is more disturbing after meals and at night. It is so irritating sometimes that I feel like puncturing my eardrum so I should never hear it again.
