Tinnitus: My tinnitus started on Dec. 26, 2004 I woke up with what I thought was an ear infection. My right ear felt plugged. I was given an antibiotic and then visited my family doctor. On investigation there was no sign of infection and he tried a tuning fork test. He noted severe hearing loss in my right ear.
At the same time of the hearing loss a high pitched ringing appeared and has never left. I was sent to a hearing specialist and after two auditory tests both ears were judged to be below normal hearing standards with my right ear being more severe.
Hearing aids were prescribed. The use of the aids however has not taken away the high pitched sound. I have been on a medication called Nardil for the past 20 years. I am in my mid 50's not overweight eat very healthy and am a non smoker.
