My tinnitus started in just one ear...

Tinnitus: I am having trouble diagnosing my type of tinnitus because there are several types I can identify with. My tinnitus started in just one ear, and then all of the sudden, a few years later, my one good ear got it too. I have been diagnosed with Meniere's disease by the house ear clinic, after several bouts of vertigo. However; I treated that on my own with accupuncture treatments, and have not experienced any vertigo now since May of 2003. The tinnitus, however, is making me crazy. Especially since I love to listen to music, and now my tinnitus is such that is interferes with the tones I hear in the music.
My tinnitus is not really a ringing, it is like "head noise," which is the best way to describe it, but loud head noise. Sometimes if I pay close attention to it, it does pulsate with my heart. I also have the herpes virus. I don't know what to do about it. Everyone tells me there is no cure. The second ear was just affected two days ago.Please help me. I have three small children, and this is affecting my ability to be a good mother, too.

Hello Kristin,
I am glad that you contacted me as I feel pretty certain that we can help you get relief from your tinnitus. It is hard enough being a good Mother wilthout the added stress of tinnitus. In order to achieve effective tinnitus relief one needs to treat the root cause of the tinnitus, with the correct tinnitus relief remedy. It is pretty clear that your tinnitus is as a result of cochlea damage. When an external noise is heard the many thousands of little hairs in the cochlea are stimulated.

These sensitive organs can also be damaged from a knock on the head. The tiny hairs often get bent out of shape or even broken and then randomly produce impulses directly to the brain which interprets them as a sound, although there is no sound present.
Any type of surgery to the head can also result in noise induced tinnitus.
