Pulsatile Tinnitus from High Cholesterol - The blood vessels to and from the ears are often a major cause tinnitus.
This type of tinnitus will normally occur when the is a narrowing or a partial blockage of these arteries .
These blockages are usually caused from an atheroma.
So what is Atheroma?
An atheroma is an abnormal accumulation and swelling of cholesterol and fatty acids, calcium mineral and variable amounts of fibrous connective tissues within the walls of arteries.
In plain language and atheroma is a fatty deposit in inner lining of an artery, which can obstruct blood flow and is caused by high levels of cholesterol in the body.
The tinnitus noises associated with this problem are usually drumming, pulsing or pulsating , or a fluttering sounds which are synchronous with the heart beat, hence the name pulsatile tinnitus.
